Human Rights Atlanta (HRA) last night, Jan. 15th, 2009, agreed to a modified mission:
“The mission of Human Rights Atlanta is to promote awareness of the human rights framework; foster inclusive and sustainable collaboration among human rights organizations and activists in metro Atlanta; and contribute to an ongoing human rights movement that can challenge unjust policies and institutions at home and abroad.”
The former HRA mission, adopted during the events leading up to the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was:
“The mission of Human Rights Atlanta is to organize a grassroots campaign commemorating the sixtieth anniversary of the 1948 signing of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; foster inclusive and sustainable collaboration among human rights organizations and activists in metro Atlanta; and contribute to an ongoing human rights movement that can challenge unjust policies and institutions at home and abroad.”
